copy list item

I would like to copy a list item through jquery from one list to another (identical lists)

I was creating the copy through a workflow but would prefer to either trigger that workflow through javascript (ajax SpServices) or make the copy straight through SpServices.

I might add that I would like to change the assignee column of the item (task) for the newly created copy.

Does anyone have a suggestion for which is best (workflow vs all javascript) to make the copy and the edit?

any code examples would be met with happiness.

Thanks -LH

There are many examples of copying list items from one to the next.  Read over the docs and post back when you hit a snag.

Here's two operations you'll be using for your solution:

Thanks for the reply - I am familiar with the operations you referenced.

What i am looking for is a "copy" operation. Doesnt look like it exisits.

With what you referenced, i would have to suppose i would have to create a copy in memory and create new.

anyone else have good suggestions?

There's no copy operation available for list items in the Web Services. The GetListItems/UpdateListItems combo is your best bet.
