Chain Edit Forms Together

I understand that there's a method to chain forms based on a new item's ID but I would like to edit forms together based on a certain form value (which can be defined easily with a CAML query) so that user's can go from one item to another without returning to the original page in between each edit.

I can set up the first two by having a CAML query on a page and JavaScript that creates an <a> with the href being the first item to be edited with a ReferURL attached to that href with the second item to be edited. On subsequent forms that I don't know how to continue changing the subsequent ReferURL's to continue this "domino effect". Any ideas?

You can do this with script or with custom actions in a DVWP if you're customizeing the forms. What I generally do is pass the important value(s) on the Query String and then grab them with the script or DVWP to apply the conditional logic.

I'm not sure if we're talking about the exact same thing but thank you for your reply.
