Using SPServices to Pick Up data in List and match to HTML Map

Hi there, I am looking at using your solution to extract list data and match it to a hotspot on an area map. I have a SharePoint 2010 intranet and I have a map of europe I have converted to html with hotpots to cover each country in Europe on the map. I also have a list with 2 fields, title (country name)and description. I would like to use JavaScript to create a pop up to display information from that list wen a user hovers over a particular hotspot. So for example, if someone hovers over the Uk, I would like a pop up to display showing the title and description corresponding to the UK in that list. I already have my code for creating the pop up.

Is it possible to use SpServices to connect to the list and extract the information? I am new to Javascript so need some help with this please.

Thanks in advance.

You can use GetListItems to grab items from any list. Check the documentation for GetListItems and post back with specific questions if you have them.
