So, I see that now SPGetCurrentUser can pull custom fields, "if it's a field that's displayed on the userdisp.aspx page." How do I make a custom field display on this page? And, would the field need to be set so ANYONE can see it?
This is a field that I'd only like the user to be able to see, not everyone.

If it's a column that the current user can see on the userdisp.aspx page, then you should be able to access it. Since I can't predict all of the possible customizations that you might do, though, I can't make any guarantees for columns that are not normally
on the page.

That's the problem, it's not displaying on that page. I'm not sure how to make my custom field display on that page.

That's not something you can configure from the UI; it's a system, or _layouts page.
