SPCascadeDropdowns Incorrect Child Displayed

Oct 15, 2012 at 3:54 PM

Hi all. Using SPServices 0.7.2 with jQuery 1.8.2.

I have a simple one field Cascade. Looking up "Districts" (child) based on "Region" (parent).

In the edit form the "District" field is correctly filtered based on the "Region" chosen. However, on the view page the wrong "District" (child) is diplayed even though the ID is correct as discovered hovering over the selection.

Here is my script:

<script type="text/javascript" src="/org/priv/jQuery/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="/org/priv/jQuery/jquery.SPServices.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">

$(document).ready(function() {

		$().SPServices.SPCascadeDropdowns({
			relationshipList: "{4E004980-5B45-4A52-9AAC-39875DEDCDC4}", //Regional District list
			relationshipListParentColumn: "Region",
			relationshipListChildColumn: "Title", //Provides District field
			parentColumn: "Region",
			childColumn: "District",
			debug: true
		});
	});
</script>

I'm completely stymied by this one. Hope someone can help thanks.

My guess is that the relationshipList or the list where you are using SPCascadeDropdowns isn't set up properly. Check the docs and make sure you're following the same pattern.

Thanks. I’ll recheck. The alerts work as they should too.

Yes, the pattern was correctly setup. I discovered that it was a site column that had gone bad with mold and mildew. I recreated it and all is good again.

Thanks for the prompt follow up!! It’s much appreciated.

Mold and mildew can really kill things.
