Hello Marc,

I suceeded in using the update View on the lists (damn microsoft again, not using the Name but the name shown to user as column names...).

Now, I want to customize the "navigation" bar where the lists are shown, as well as adding a list to this bar.

I don't even know if it is possible, but after spending a good hour looking in Web and List methods, I don't seem to find any of the two.

If anyone could at least tell me where to look if it is possible, it would be of great help.

Edit: I also wanted to give specific rights to a group on a list, but the result is using a permission masl, marked as deprecated in microsoft doc, and sending back an error to me, of the same type as before when I was puting a GUID instead of a number.

<soap:Envelope xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
<soap:Body>
<AddPermission xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/directory/">
<objectName>testlist</objectName>
<objectType>List</objectType>
<permissionIdentifier>testGroup</permissionIdentifier>
<permissionType>group</permissionType>
<permissionMask>0x00000002</permissionMask>
</AddPermission>
</soap:Body>
</soap:Envelope>

both my group and list exists before launching the command, and the error seems to be on the mask.

Anyone ever used this before maybe?

Reply to myself, never ever trust Microsoft, they tell to put 0x000..., but in fact, put 2 and everithing will be fine.

Seriously, having to create a console application just to see the result of their 0x01|0x02, it's lame.

Anyway, it is working, so it just leaves the navigation bar problem.

Are you trying to add values to the Quick Launch using script? I'm not sure that's possible (but I can't gurantee that it isn't). Is there any reason you aren't just adding the entries in the Site Settings under Navigation?

Well, I am trying to recreate my automatic site creation I did with C# on a standard SharePoint install, and to extend it as far as I can.

We are using sites that need quite a lot of lists and libraries, and too diferent each time to be able to save a template really usefull, so my aim is to make it all a little easier.

If it is not possible, no problem, it is not possible, it is just one of the things that will need to be done by hand after the script.

Thank you for the answer.

Are you referring as Marc asked to the "Quick Launch" bar on the left or the top navigation bar?

I got a French version, so not sure about the name, but it is on the left and has a list of links and lists in it.
