Does SPServices' functions work with external lists?

First of all, thanks for amazing and useful library - it really rocks!

I've tried to use SPServices with external list. I want to make unique constraint for new item form with $().SPServices.SPRequireUnique function.

So, the result goes like this:

  • The message 'This value must be unique.' is shown always
  • Lists.asmx return 500 internal server error

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><soap:Envelope xmlns:soap="" xmlns:xsi="" xmlns:xsd=""><soap:Body><soap:Fault><faultcode>soap:Server</faultcode><faultstring>Exception of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.SoapServer.SoapServerException' was thrown.</faultstring><detail><errorstring xmlns="">Column 'ID' does not exist. It may have been deleted by another user.  /MobileBilling/Operators</errorstring><errorcode xmlns="">0x80131600</errorcode></detail></soap:Fault></soap:Body></soap:Envelope>

Yes, there is no field ID in external list, that's true.

It seems like
SPServices hasn't been tested with external list, has been it?
Or may be I did something wrong with settings (but it works with ordinary lists pretty good).

I havent tried it, but I'm 99% certain that it won't work. The function uses the Lists Web Services to query the underlying list. Because the list is not stored in SharePoint, that Web Service is unlikely to be able to access it.
