Deleting item in one list triggers item deletion in a different list

MOSS 2007 - no use of SPD allowed.

When an item is created in list A, I am using SPD to make a clone of the item (only a handful of fields) in list B, along with an extra field in B that contains the ID of the item in A

On the EditForm, a PreSave Action keeps the item in B updated as fields in A change.

The reason we are keeping two lists in lieu of 1 is complicated, involving using Access, MS SQL, etc - just suffice to say we need to do it this way.

How can I delete the item in list B if the item in list A is deleted?

Thanks for any suggestions!!

You'd have to hook into the event when the delete icon is clicked on the form for ithe itme in list A. However, since there are multiple places where a user can do the delete, including the ECBs, it's very, much non-trivial. You couldn't even do this easily if you were able to use an SPD workflow, as there's no way to trigger a workflow on a delete event.

Bottom line: It may be time to reconsider your architecture.
